Artistic treatment of a shot of a rock bed, exploring shadow and texture.

photo edit notes:

Used multiple layers derived from different thresholds (using Image > adjust > threshold) and given different color casts. They were layered on top of another with different levels of opacity and blending options. Final touch was to paintbrush over some areas to give a more solid "shadow" for the rocks to be embedded into.
